US Strikes $58.6B Patriot Missile Deal Amid Rising Stockpile Concerns
July 29, 2026 - The U.S. Army awarded Lockheed Martin a contract worth up to $58.6 billion to increase production of Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles amid concerns over declining weapons inventories. The seven-year agreement will support efforts to triple PAC-3 MSE production capacity by 2030 and expand manufacturing at Lockheed’s Camden, Arkansas facility. Pentagon negotiators are pressing contractors to move much faster, with tentative production agreements struck earlier this year at the center of efforts to increase missile output. The administration of President Donald Trump has also increased pressure on defense contractors to prioritize production over shareholder payouts. (Reuters)

FAA Says Seats on Hundreds of Boeing 737 MAX Jets May Need Inspections
July 27, 2026 - The FAA proposed an airworthiness directive requiring inspections of 453 U.S.-registered Boeing 737 MAX aircraft after reports that some passenger seats may have been incorrectly installed. The issue could cause seats to detach during an emergency landing or block evacuation routes, creating safety risks for passengers and crew. Boeing said it had already issued guidance to operators in December 2025 and supports the FAA making the inspections mandatory. (Reuters)
